Microscopic Endodontics

Our New York Ident dental specialists utilize advanced dental techniques and dental instruments to further enhance your oral care. Surgical loupes with fiber optic illumination have opened up entirely new vistas for the treatment of both non–surgical and surgical Endodontics. Due to the enhanced illumination and high magnification optics, difficult root canals can be optimally treated. Additionally, retreatment of root canals that have failed can now be managed with greater efficiency and success.

Endodontic Surgery

Although there are many dental surgical procedures that can be performed to save a tooth, the most common is called an apicoectomy or root–end resection. This Endodontic procedure may be necessary when inflammation and infection persists in the area around the root tip after root canal therapy or root canal retreatment.

Often, the only alternative to surgery is tooth extraction. The extracted tooth must then be replaced with an implant, bridge, or removable partial denture to restore chewing function and to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.

Endodontic Retreatment: A second chance to save your tooth

Advances in dental technology are constantly changing the way root canal treatment is performed, so our Endodontist may even be able to use a new technique that was not available when you had your first procedure. Retreated teeth can function well for years, even for a lifetime. It’s always best to save the tooth if our New York Endodontist believes retreatment is the best option for you.
